Mark White a nationally recognized certified kitchen designer (CKD) and CEO of Kitchen Encounters based in Annapolis Maryland designed the home’s Kitchen and Bath areas and offers the following thoughts:
We wanted to create a kitchen plan appropriate for today’s lifestyles.
The open plan works great for entertaining as well as daily use. There is a good flow pattern around the kitchen which allows the cook to work without disruption and without feeling isolated.
The raised area between the kitchen and dining room conceals the work area and lets the eye travel to the built-in cabinets on the back wall, which includes display space, extra storage and a computer work station.
In the center of the kitchen, a free form island allows guests to gather around. A built-in coffee area is conveniently located near the breakfast area for easy access. In the corner, the range creates a nice focal point with plenty of counter space on both sides. Although the kitchen is filled with the latest technology in appliances, it still maintains a warm, inviting appearance. The warm wood tone of the cabinets and the solid countertops are both functional and beautiful.
The master bath was designed to accommodate an active couple so they each have their own space. A large spa is nestled into the niche at the window with the shower right next to it. Separate sink areas are created by the angled wall with the toilet. Access from the walk-in closet adds to the practicality of this beautiful bathroom that includes many of today’s latest conveniences
