2006 Consumer Electronics Show to feature NextGen "Digital Lifestyles" Home

LAS VEGAS.- Jan. 5 ----------------It’s one thing to hear about the amazing capabilities of today’s technology and quite another to see all of the pieces in action, in a real home environment, which is why the NextGen “Digital Lifestyles” Home is a necessary stop for visitors of the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Jan. 5 to 8.

Constructed onsite at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the show, this home serves as the perfect showcase for technological leaders like Microsoft, Intel and HP (Hewlett-Packard), because it allows visitors to see for themselves how today’s digital technology can improve their way of life.

“When you come in the door you’re actually entering into the first of 11 environments within the home,” explains Mike Seamons, VP of marketing for Exceptional Innovation, another partner involved in the home. “In the dining room, for example, visitors will witness the wonders of digital artwork and music, while in the kitchen they’ll learn how connected appliances simplify daily tasks and entertainment, lighting and climate can all be controlled with the touch of a button.”

Exceptional Innovation’s Life|ware home control software will manage the home’s lighting, alarms, audio, cameras and thermostats. Visitors will see how control of these systems is merged seamlessly with digital entertainment via HP Digital Entertainment Centers running Windows XP Media Center Edition, or through Life|touch all-digital, high definition touch panels.

Seamons stresses that the draw of the home is that the technologies featured are all currently on the market. “The home is about showing people what they can go out and buy today, not five years from now. It’s about exploring how technology can cater to vastly different lifestyles — from the working mom, to the college student, to the retiree — and it brings all these experiences together under one roof.”

The “Digital Lifestyles” Demonstration Home is part of the NextGen Home Experience™ which showcases the evolution of the American home — from electronics to the latest in building systems — through a series of demonstration homes

“This is our third year of creating Digital Lifestyle homes for CES, and over the years we’ve introduced thousands of visitors to a wide variety of new products,” says Paul Barnett, president of iShow, producer of all the NextGen Home Experience™. “This is the place to come to see the best technology out there today and get a glimpse of what is to come in the upcoming year.”
