Constructed with support from the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA), a not-for-profit industry association dedicated to the advancement of intelligent home and intelligent building technologies in North America, the NextGen “Builders Challenge” Home is not only green, efficient and safe, it’s intelligent and intuitive.

On display inside the home is the Verve™ Living System, a wireless, whole-house lighting control system that allows homeowners to adjust the lighting in the entire home with just the click of a switch. The system can be used to create customized lighting “scenes” and pathway lighting, easily dim house lights to save on energy, and thanks to the fact the system’s switches are self-powering, homeowners can also change the location of any switch any time they want, even attaching them to glass, concrete or brick.

Presenting another option for lighting control, a host of technologies from Alutech and Somfy make solar in the NextGen “Builders Challenge” Home extra smart, including:

An exterior solar screen powered by solar energy through the AutoSun™ Motor System
  • the Sunis Indoor WireFree™ RTS Light Sensor -An indoor wireless radio transmitter that operates motorized window coverings and rolling shutters automatically based on the amount of sunlight;

  • and
  • the DecoFlex WireFree™ RTS wall switch and Telis 4 RTS handheld remote – both work together to allow homeowners control over individual window coverings or groups of coverings without the need to aim at the window.
Industry leader Lennox also showcases some exciting digital advances as part of its new HVAC system, including the ComfortSense® 7000 Series Touchscreen Thermostat. The thermostat works with any central heating and cooling system to allow the homeowner to completely customize the temperature schedule for every day of the week, along with the humidity in the home, through a large, easy-to-use touchscreen display.

Experience for yourself the NextGen “Builders Challenge” Home, where you won’t believe how much is possible with just a touch.
