National Gypsum has a long-established tradition of improving products through innovation and leadership. That tradition continues today with the introduction of the Gold Bond® BRAND XP® product family with Sporgard™ in the NextGen "Urban Living" Home at the 2009 International Builders Show.
Sporgard is the most sophisticated mold fighting technology for building materials available today, and National Gypsum is proud to be the first building products company to offer it. Sporgard is a combination of multiple mold inhibitors manufactured into building products to actively combat mold and comes from Syngenta, a world-wide leader in mold control.
The best way to prevent mold and moisture damage is to employ responsible materials handling and construction practices. However, National Gypsum and Syngenta know that mold is everywhere and you can’t control all factors when building a structure, which is why they’ve partnered to enhance the XP gypsum board family by adding Sporgard mold protection.
XP with Sporgard is proven in independent lab tests to prevent mold growth, resulting in a cleaner, more comfortable indoor environment. What’s more, each mold inhibitor in Sporgard is individually approved to meet the EPA’s most stringent standards for application on crops grown for food. Now they are available together in one structural mold solution.
The XP family of gypsum board products is the first line to feature this innovative mold protection, but it won’t be the last. Syngenta is developing Sporgard protection to work with multiple categories of building materials, indoors and outdoors, including paints and coatings, insulation, engineered woods, siding, flooring and outdoor fabrics.
