NextGen Home Wins Recognition
BELLEVUE WA, May 2, 2008 - The NextGen "First to the Future" Demonstration Home has won the Washington State "Residential Concrete ICF Home of the Year" award for 2008. The award was announced at the 40th annual, "Excellence in Concrete Construction" Awards dinner attended by more than 300 industry professionals on May 1st, 2008.
"We are very pleased to receive this important recognition as the home is the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest to also receive the Institute for Business & Home Safety's, Fortified...for safer living® designation", said Paul Barnett, president of iShow.com Inc. and producers of the NextGen Home Experience® series of demonstration homes across the country.
The Fortified...for safer living® designation works in concert with programs that promote green, sustainable construction. Building homes that better withstand nature's wrath will not only reduce the amount of construction debris that ends up in landfills after a disaster, but decrease demand on valuable resources that would have to be used to rebuild. The Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), is an independent nonprofit research organization supported by the insurance industry.
The home was built using an insulated concrete forms (ICF's) system provided by AMVIC which received both the BuiltGreen and Energy Star Northwest certifications.
"The NextGen Home Experience® is where you can find the next, in next generation residential construction for the American Home. Concrete delivers a strong, energy efficient home with many green attributes, which are important factors related to the future of home construction" advised Barnett.
