The NextGen "Energy Miser" Concept Home

In association with the U.S. Department of Energy and leading consumer electronics and building products companies, the NextGen “Energy Miser” Concept Home will feature many practical ways to make the American home more efficient.

The combination of smart home consumer electronics and a wide variety of next generation building products and techniques to lower energy bills will be showcased in the NextGen CES “Energy Miser” Home.

There are approximately 130 million existing homes in the U. S. and the vast majority were built at least 10 years ago. The advancement of electronics for energy management, and home automation combined with newly available LED lighting and energy retrofits can help home owners lower the cost of their energy bills while reducing their carbon footprint.

The NextGen Home is a makeover of an existing home, made much more energy efficient through the use of integrated consumer electronics, appliances and building modifications.

The good news is that many of the modifications to the home were low cost but deliver significant energy reduction benefits. There is something for every home owner to learn from the NextGen “Energy Miser” Home.
